Biocomplejidad

Los sistemas vivos son el paradigma de los sistemas complejos, con interacciones no lineales que ocurren a todas las escalas espaciales y temporales, desde moléculas y genes hasta la escala planetaria que define la biosfera global. Uno de los ejes de nuestra investigación es el nivel ecológico, en el que consideramos los modos de movilidad de los organismos y su interacción con la búsqueda de alimentos, la propagación de enfermedades, patrones espaciales y también con las interacciones ecológicas básicas como competición, depredación o mutualismo. Otra cuestión central en nuestros estudios es la comprensión de la función cerebral, que requiere enfoques a escalas que van desde las neuronas individuales a todo el cerebro. En el nivel neuronal, nos concentramos en aspectos de sincronización entre poblaciones neuronales interactuantes, estudiando cómo fluye la información. Con la ayuda de medidas estadísticas, analizamos datos experimentales y comparamos los resultados con modelos neuronales.
