Esta tesis tiene por objetivo general el estudio de la dinámica no lineal en distintos sistemas electro-ópticos. Por un lado se estudia la utilización de estos sistemas para generar caos de alta complejidad con vistas a comunicaciones ópticas encriptadas, y por otro, como generadores de microondas de alta pureza espectral.

La Semana de la Ciencia y la Tecnología es la iniciativa más importante de divulgación científica de nuestra comunidad autónoma. El objetivo principal es acercar la ciencia al público de todas las edades, estimular el gusto por el saber científico e incentivar la participación de los ciudadanos en cuestiones científicas mediante la realización de actividades de divulgación. El IFISC, Instituto de Física Interdisciplinaria y Sistemas Complejos, se suma a esta iniciativa abriendo las puertas de su centro e insertando la ciencia en el programa cultural a través de diferentes actividades que combinan el factor lúdico, el rigor científico y formatos novedosos, con el objetivo de divulgar y comunicar su labor científica y propiciar la mejora de su percepción pública.

El profesor Maxi San Miguel, Catedrático de Física de la Materia Condensada de la Universitat de les Illes Balears y director del Instituto de Física Interdisciplinar y Sistemas Complejos (IFISC, CSIC-UIB), recibió el pasado 16 de mayo el premio Medalla de la Real Sociedad Española de Física, como reconocimiento a su trayectoria científica y a su actividad investigadora. Este galardón le fue otorgado conjuntamente por la Real Sociedad Española de Física y la Fundación BBVA, y la entrega tuvo lugar en la sede de la Fundación BBVA, en Madrid.

Modern optics days IFISC -OSA
The Institute for-Cross Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems, IFISC, and The Optical Society of America, OSA, organized between 6 and july 10, the First Modern Optics Days. A group of 20 students in the field of Physics and Engineering of the Universitat de les Illes Balears attended the IFISC-OSA conferences that introduced them to the field of XXI Century Optics, and provide them information on the issues being investigated by the International ScientificCommunity. These days were also useful to facilitate communication and debate among participants and students on that discipline.
